It is only by God's grace that anything ever works.
Welcome to Politics by Faith. Thank you for being here. We pray for the victims of the horrible crash at Reagan National Airport. No survivors. 64 people on the plane, 3 service members on the helicopter. Terrible.
Everyone's worst nightmare when you get on an airplane. It's like a minute away from landing safely, it's awful. This morning on the radio, I found out about it at 4.30 this morning. I went to bed without knowing it happened, woke up at 4.30, or saw it at 4.30,
and I was like, oh jeez, we gotta do radio, we gotta talk about this on the radio, but I only know so much. We opened up the phones and I said, hey, is there anyone who knows anything about Black Hawk helicopters or commercial jets
or anything like this? And the phones were full the whole show of Black Hawk pilots and commercial pilots and a guy who ran a platoon of Black Hawks. And after incident, specialists, investigators, it was unbelievable.
It was one of the most incredible shows I've ever been a part of. And just to hear people's expertise and to step up at that moment and share it is really pretty special. And one guy said, there's a lot of humility as well,
like we don't know and they'll find out,
investigations, et cetera, and some guys are like,
well, it'll take like eight to 10 months. I'm like, man, eight to 12 months, that's, I said, we'll see how quickly Trump's team can get us all the information. Hopefully it's faster than that. But it seems like the working conclusion is it's just a pile of mistakes
that all happen to line up in the worst possible way. And all these experts and pilots are like, yeah, that can happen. I know there's some conspiracy theories out there, but my mind never even went there. And sometimes it goes to the conspiracy land, but it never went there. And either did it to these actual Blackhawk pilots.
They're like, yep, I could see this happening. Now, we have spent a lot of time on my show over the years, probably the last five or six years, talking about DEI specifically among the air traffic controllers. Surely there was a major mistake with air traffic control. The job of air traffic control is to control the traffic in
the air. And they didn't do that. I don't know if that's jumping to a wild conclusion, but unless we find out later that the helicopter pilot completely disobeyed air traffic control's orders, but it doesn't seem that way. I don't know. We'll see. But either way, there's still a pretty blatant example of DEI among our air traffic controllers.
We talked about that a bit today, and then Trump came out after the show and went hard on that exact point. I don't know if this is the place to do that. If you subscribe to SiriusXM, we spent some time on it yesterday and we'll put a bow on it tomorrow's show. All I'll say is that since the Obama administration, they recognized that, and this is their own words, the least diverse part of the executive branch was the FAA. So they went on an intentional effort to diversify the FAA and they replaced the test to
become an air traffic controller with a questionnaire. And the questionnaire actually has right answers. And there'll be questions like, what class in high school did you get the worst grades? And the right answer is science. First of all, it's a questionnaire. There's no right or wrong answers. It's a questionnaire, but in this one there are, and the right answers are all the opposite ones that you would want the right answers to be. How many sports did you play in high school? Four or more is the right answer. Like what in the world? And this is all
to find a certain type of person to become air traffic controllers. And there were people who got 100% on the actual test that didn't get the job because they didn't answer the questionnaire This is why this is one of Trump's top priorities when he came into office was to root out all the DEI stuff and to replace it back with merit and excellence. DEI has been toxic and it's also been deadly. I want to change gears here a bit for the rest of the show and share something that has been on my mind just about our country in
general. Have you ever hit rock bottom in your life? What's your rock bottom? What was your rock bottom? I love rock bottom stories because that's when you know someone's really changed their life if they can give you a rock bottom story. I heard this from Glenn Beck many years ago. Glenn Beck's an alcoholic and I forget what the context was, but he said someone, you need to have a pivot story. So if someone is claiming that they've changed
and there's repentance, they need to be, they should be able to articulate a pivot point in their life. Could be a moment, could be a realization that came over time, but some eye-opening experience. That's why that's an expression. It's eye-opening and it's a
pivot point in their life. If you've ever had a rock-bottom moment, it's terrible but in the end it's a wonderful blessing. You praise God for it. They're hard but they're good. We have an expression in this later home, it's bad but it's good. I hope we've hit a rock bottom moment in America.
Now I know that things can get way, way worse
than they've been, way worse. One takeaway I had from talking with all these pilots is just how difficult everything is. Like flying airplanes, some of the things we take for granted. I read this a long time ago.
They asked a bunch of guys, if the airplane pilot had a heart attack and you had to land the plane, do you think you could do it? And it was something like 95% of the guys were like, yeah, no problem, I can definitely land that plane.
And I asked that to the pilot, he's like, no, you couldn't, you couldn't land that one. It's, oh, and then the Black Hawk helicopter guys were talking about the night vision goggles. And to me, like night vision, it's like, oh, that makes things way easier, right?
It's like, no, no, no, night vision's super difficult, and there's no depth perception and all light shines. So if I could, I talked to one of the pilots active duty and I was like, well, it was a clear night. He's like, yeah, yeah, but the moon and the moon reflects off the water and all the lights from all the other planes on the runway and all just the lights on the runway and the
city lights and you have all these different lights and then you have this other plane coming down and it just looks like any other light anywhere else. And one pilot said it's a very perishable skill. And that maybe was why they were out there on a training mission. Maybe they need to get a certain number of hours of their night vision goggles. I don't know exactly yet.
But there's a general takeaway of how difficult it is to do the things that we take for granted. Fly an airplane. It's pretty impossible, actually. And it's by God's grace that anything ever works. There's no question about that. And I know in America in general, we can be way worse than we're at right now.
We had a civil war for the love of Pete. Like, that's a pretty rock bottom. A million people died. So I would say that's a rock bottom. So I think it's God's grace that we didn't, that the bottom wasn't as hard as it could have been.
And hopefully we can now wake up before things get any worse. So let's act like we hit a rock bottom and reevaluate everything as if we did. Does that make sense? Because when you hit rock bottom, you reevaluate everything.
Right, every decision you make, every habit you have, every routine, every relationship, everything you believe, you rethink your identity. If you become a Christian,
you literally put to death your old self and you're born again. And I think it's time we just reevaluate everything I was reading the other day Acts 22 where Paul is giving his testimony and he's talking about his pivot point his road to Damascus moment and he says I was persecuted this way I persecuted this way to the death binding
and delivering to prison both men and women. I murdered people for God. And then there was a blinding light and I fell to the ground and Jesus told me to stop killing Christians and to go around and tell people about me.
And he was blind for three days. So that was Paul's rock bottom moment. That was his pivot point. If you asked Paul the day you became a slave to Jesus, he'd be like, well, I'll tell you exactly where it happened. So I got thinking of stories in the Bible where people were blind but
then they saw. From literal blind people who can now see to Paul who was blinded by the devil for a long time. Acts 9 18 says and then immediately something like scales fell from his eyes and he regained his sight then he rose and was baptized. So he was blinded to the truth and murdered Christians. Then he was literally blinded by Jesus. And then regained his literal sight and spiritual sight.
Rose and was baptized. Isn't that amazing? Isaiah 29. Pause and wonder. Blind yourselves and be blind. They are drunk, but not with wine. They stagger, but not with intoxicating drink.
For the Lord has poured out on you the spirit of deep sleep, and has closed your eyes, namely the prophets, and he has covered your heads, namely the seers. What's going on here? He's talking about Israel. Israel's pride has made them spiritually blind and spiritually drunk. This opening line, pause and wonder, that's the ESV. NIV says, be stunned and amazed. King James says, stay yourself and wonder. The original Hebrew, the first word is be delayed and the next word has the sense
of amazement or marvel. Pause and wonder. I don't know which collection of those words is the most powerful from Isaiah 29, but the point is that God has cursed the people of Israel the people chose to not see so God made him blind God gave them over to their desires it's what the people wanted God can withhold truth from people and withhold the word Amos 8 says behold the days are coming says the Lord God that I will send a famine on the land not a famine of bread nor a thirst for water
What do you mean that's what a famine means family means no food and water right God's like no no no not a famine for that But of hearing the words of the Lord They shall wander from sea to sea and from north to east they shall run to and fro Seeking the word of the Lord, but shall not find it." I pray we wake up. I pray we wake up in this country. Romans 13, 13-11 says, to do this knowing the time that now it is high time to
awake out of sleep for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. We got to get out of our sleep. We got to wake up out of our sleep. The hour has come for you to wake from sleep. Wake up. Let's stop being blind. Isaiah 29 is a pretty emotionally difficult chapter to read. Let's pray Psalm 146 that the Lord opens the eyes of the blind. There's actually a lot more I want to say about it. We should stop here though.
There's a lot of stuff to pray about. I want to talk about the scene in Matthew 13 tomorrow, where Jesus said, Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear,
nor do they understand. There's a lot to unpack there, but we should do that tomorrow. In the meantime, let's pray that the scales come from our eyes, that this can be a rock bottom and we can have a real revival in America again.
