It reminded me of another pivotal moment in our history. It's about time we get back to it and never let it go again.
Okay, Politics by Faith. Thank you for being here. I usually don't record on the days we record a TV show, but I wanted to share this here. This is Donald Trump's first cabinet meeting. The political interesting thing is Trump's first cabinet meeting in his first term was June 22nd or something like this, June 17th.
That's how long it took him to get his cabinet together. Here we are February 26th for this first cabinet meeting. We're gonna talk more about it on the radio show tomorrow, Sirius XM, but I think it's noteworthy that this is how Trump started the meeting. This is the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. Jason, if they wanna know about the meeting, right?
Thank you very much.
Thank you, Mr. President, let's pray.
Father, we thank you for this awesome privilege, Father, to be in your presence. God, thank you that you've allowed us to see this day. The Bible says that your mercies are new every morning. And Father, God, we give you the glory and the honor. Thank you, God, for President Trump, Father, for appointing us. Father, God, thank you for anointing us to do this job.
Father, we pray you will give the President and the Vice President wisdom, Father, God, as they leave. the Vice President, wisdom. Father God, as they lead, Father, I pray for all of my colleagues that are here around the table and in this room. Lord God, we pray that we would lead with a righteous clarity.
Father God, as we serve the people of this country in every prospective agency, every job that we have, Father, we would humble ourselves before you and we would lead in a manner that you've called us to lead and to serve. Father, the Bible says, the blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord. Well, Father, we today honor you and in your rightful place, Father, thank you for giving us this opportunity to restore faith in this country and be a blessing to the people of
America. And Lord God, today in our meeting, we pray that you will be glorified in our conversation. In Jesus' name, amen.
God, that was a very good job you did. I'd like to keep that last part of it. Gratitude, giving God the glory, praying for wisdom for Trump and Vance and everyone else around the table, praying that they lead with a, or we, in his person, we lead with a righteous clarity. Love that. And then praying to restore faith to this country. How wonderful. The scripture he quoted,
and real quick, just to do that in front of the cameras,
it's great. The scripture he quoted was Psalm 33.
Just jump a little bit before. The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing. Love it. He makes the plans of the peoples of no effect. No one, no nation, no government is more powerful than God. The counsel of the Lord stands forever.
The plans of His heart to all generations. Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord. Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord. The people He has chosen as His own inheritance. This reminded me of a story of Ben Franklin at the Constitutional Convention. And he stood up and he said,
We've arrived, Mr. President, at a very momentous and interesting crisis in our deliberations. Hitherto our views have been as harmonious and our progress as great as could reasonably have been expected. But now an unlooked-for and formidable obstacle
is thrown in our way, which threatens to arrest our course, and if not skillfully removed, to render all our fond hopes of a Constitution abortive. And he goes on to discuss what it is it's not relevant here but the point is there will always be always be difficult things in front of us there always be crossroads I believe we're at a pretty big one right now in America
and then he says before I sit down mr. president I will suggest another matter and I'm really surprised that it has not been proposed by some other member at an earlier period of our deliberations I will suggest mr. president that I would suggest, Mr. President, that, propriety of nominating and appointing, before we separate, a chaplain to this convention, whose duty it shall be uniformly to assemble with us and introduce the business of each day by an address to the Creator of the universe
and the Governor of all nations, beseeching him to preside in our Council, enlighten our minds with a portion of heavenly wisdom. Influence our hearts with a love of truth and justice. And crown our labors with complete and abundant success. Oh, go back, press rewind, press the circle thing, go back. Let's listen to that a few more times, it's great. The person who wrote this letter describing what happened here, he says,
The doctor sat down, Ben Franklin, and never did I behold a countenance at once so delighted, excuse me, so dignified and delighted as was that of George Washington at the close of the address. Nor were the members of the convention generally less affected. The words of the venerable Franklin fell upon our ears with a weight and authority even greater than we may suppose an oracle to have had in the Roman Senate.
A silent admiration superseded for a moment the expression of that assent and approbation which was strongly marked on almost every company. How great is that? It's high time we get back to it and never let it go again.
