I thought Trump and JD's interaction with Zelenskyy was delightful. It's a reminder that we need to be bold when speaking the truth, like Micaiah was to King Ahab.
Welcome to Politics by Faith. Thanks for being here. We just recorded a really fun special on government corruption and did a segment on corruption shown by leaders in the Bible. It's all over the place. Prophets saying, stop devouring the people.
Stop with the bureaucracies. I'm not kidding. I hate what is evil, love what is good, saying this to the leaders of Israel, repent and save our nation. It's amazing the parallels. If you're new to the podcast, that would be shocking how relatable it all is. But if you've been around for a while, your reaction is more, oh yeah, that makes sense.
Not surprised at all. Nothing new under the sun. It's one of the principles of this podcast. Thank you for listening, by the way. We are on our mission to get to 5,000 downloads average per episode. And when we do that, the algorithm, whoever decides this algorithm, the algorithm loves
that and then it kicks it up to an entirely different level of podcast reach. So we're almost there. We're at like 4,000 on average. So if you think that this mission is good and righteous and you think we need to get back to our biblical roots as a nation, if you just keep downloading this, listen, and maybe tell other people about it, we're at like 4,000 listeners, got to get to 5,000, so I'm super grateful. Let's talk about
Zelinsky and the Oval Office on Friday. It was awesome. We're gonna keep the political analysis pretty short. A lot has been said about this already. I think some things that we need to know, some foundational things, Trump wants the war to end. He wants to stop sending American taxpayer money to Ukraine forever and he wants people to stop dying forever. If we keep this status quo going, it could escalate into World War III or it could just
keep going for 20 years like Iraq and Afghanistan and people are just dying for 20 more years and here we are again nothing changed in 20 years except a lot of people dead. So that's Trump's goal he wants people to stop dying and he wants to avoid World War three. Europe and Ukraine are miffed because Trump is talking to Putin and Europe's not at the table, the negotiating table, but there was no table before Trump. The last three years Europe's had no relationship no
communication with Putin at all. So the only reason anyone's talking about peace at all is because of Donald Trump. And now we're in the situation where you can't say anything that may, you can't say anything that's not attacking Putin, otherwise you're a Putin stooge. So this Polish journalist in the White House asked Trump whether he's aligned himself too much with Putin and Trump said, what do you want me to say? Really terrible things about Putin and then say,
Hey, Vladimir, how are we doing on the deal? He says, it just doesn't work that way. But Zelensky and Europe and he and Europe want Putin to lose. Zelensky doesn't want the war to end. He doesn't want there to be a ceasefire and some borders slightly redrawn. He wants Putin to lose, but that's just not a real thing.
And one reason it's not a real thing is because Putin doesn't care about people being sent off to die forever. And this is something that our American minds can't understand because we don't want people to die in war. We don't like that. But Russia, their culture, they don't care about human life. Thirty million Russians died during World War Two, 30 million. And amongst many, that's held up as a sign of, oh, look how much they
sacrificed and how much they fought for the war. No, that's because the Soviets don't care about human life. 30 million people didn't need to die, but they don't care about human life. And they will send people into the meat grinder forever. And they'll just conscript people and force people. And then Putin, the dictator, will win the next election with 98% of the vote because
they don't have elections. And then when they're sort of running out of people, they'll just bring in, well, they brought in 12,000 North Koreans just to go die.
Whatever, right?
And they'll give North Korea some food and North Korea will send over their people that they don't care about. And then they'll just go die. Like they have an endless supply of people to die. So do we want that to keep going?
Okay.
If you do, then all right, whatever. To be honest about it. I think we need to give Putin a way to save face, give him something he can hang his hat on to his people to claim victory so we can stop fighting. Okay that's all the political things I'll say here. Now let's pivot to the Bible. There was a lot of pearl-clutching as well with Zelensky
and JD and Trump and the way they spoke to each other and oh no look at these men speaking sternly and boldly and directly and forcefully oh heavens me, silly. I didn't notice anything sinful or inappropriate that Trump or J.D. said. This is just men speaking about important things like avoiding World War III to each other.
We have been led by a feminine, a feminine diplomacy for a long time. I use this analogy that if you ever wake up in the morning and you turn on the lights too fast, or like you put them all on by accident, and you're like, ah, my pupils haven't adjusted. It can be like a lot. And Trump's like that for a lot of people still. So we've had this type of
diplomacy for a long time, and then Trump comes in and it's like, turn the lights off. Oh man. But it's about time we turn the lights on. Like we got to get used to it. Here's my biblical story I want to share. 1 Kings 22. So you have Jehoshaphat, the king of Judah. You got King Ahab, king of Israel. And they are going to join forces together to fight against Syria.
It's a place called Ramath Gilead. Jehoshaphat says to the king of Israel, Please inquire for the word of the Lord today. Let's ask God what he thinks we should do. So Ahab gets 400 prophets together, and he asks them, hey, should we fight or should we not?
And they all say, oh, King Ahab, go fight. We gotta do it, we'll win, no question, no question. So Ahab, so Joseph, I imagine he's like, oh, great, awesome. And Ahab's like, there's still one man, Micaiah, son of Imla, by whom we may inquire of the Lord. But I hate him, because he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil."
So he calls Micaiah. Micaiah says, As the Lord lives, whatever the Lord says to me, that I will speak. Love that. Great way to start. So King Ahab says, All right, what do we do? Should we go fight or not?
The Bible says, and he answered him, Go and prosper, for the Lord will deliver it into the hand of the king. That is what the other 400 prophets said. I wish we could get tone from the Bible. There's no marker of the tone that was said.
It's probably a sarcastic tone, a mocking tone. Well, go and prosper, for the Lord will deliver it into the hand of the king, just like these other 400 clowns said. And the king said to him, how many times shall I make you swear that you tell me nothing but the truth in the name of the Lord? He finally said, don't go.
Should I give away the end of the story you can pick it up verse 29 first Kings chapter 22 verse 29 you can pick it up from there but here we have a story of a prophet telling the king the truth even if it's what the king didn't want to hear I'm gonna steal a point that Tom Askew just told me in the special we recorded, John the Baptist. John the Baptist went to the king and said, it is not lawful for you to have your brother's wife.
This bold, direct speaking to leadership. Now, the end result of this for John the Baptist was he got his head chopped off. So there's no promise that this is going to go well for you, but it is the truth. And to be known, like Micaiah was,
as a man who always speaks the truth, whether anyone wants to hear it or not, that is noble and good. We have talked a lot about how we're a culture now that doesn't value the truth as much as tolerance. We're all about tolerance, right?
Tolerance over virtue, tolerance over righteousness. The most important thing is tolerance. We have an excess of tolerance. We've been tolerant of too much for too long. It's a similar thing here. We put an emphasis on tact.
And it's good to be tactful. It's good. And it's good to be tolerant of things at times. And it's good to be tactful. But we have sacrificed the truth in the pursuit of tact. We've sacrificed virtue in the pursuit of tolerance.
It's time, I believe, we go all in on truth and righteousness spoken with boldness. Or how Micaiah put it, as the Lord lives, whatever the Lord says to me, that I will speak.
