They were seething hatred. They were oozing hatred. Their contempt was so deep they couldn't even applaud the kid with cancer.
Welcome to Politics by Faith. Thanks for being here. Much has been said of Donald Trump's State of the Union speech, joint session at Congress, and it was great. But however great the speech was, it was made even greater by the contrast of the Democrats who collectively chose to not applaud anything.
It's normal in these State of the Union addresses, whoever's the president will say something, you know, let's say, let's say a Republican president says, I'm going to lower taxes and the Democrats sit there and don't applaud. Okay, like that's all normal part of the stuff. But when the Democrats don't applaud the 13 year old with brain cancer who became a Secret Service. That's actually the first time I noticed that the Democrats weren't applauding.
It was right after that moment, I was a little blurry-eyed, you know what I'm saying? And the camera panned to the whole House chamber, and the Democrats were sitting down, they didn't... In fact, there's a video of one Democrat, a woman, seven-year-old woman who, when Republicans started cheering for this kid, she covered, she put her finger in her ear and rolled her eyes. She was disgusted by what was happening.
And when the Democrats don't applaud Lakin Riley's mom and sister, or Jocelyn Nungare's mom, mom or the American was brought home from a Russian prison sitting with his 95 year old mother or the young man who got accepted into West Point who by the way got a high five from the 13 year old new Secret Service agent and the fact that Trump said the terrorist who killed 13 Americans in Afghanistan during the Afghanistan withdrawal was literally on the way to America during the speech he arrived at midnight last
night they didn't applaud anything. You guys kidding me? The only time the Democrats clapped literally the only time is when they talked Trump talked about giving more money to Ukraine. Trump didn't say we should give more money to Ukraine he said it's the Democrats who want to get
more forever and then they applauded that as if they they agree that yes they do want to get more money for it. But that was the only time the Democrats ever applauded. For a regular person to hear this speech and to not hear a single thing that any sane person would disagree with from Hitler up there.
And then on top of that, to see the Democrats scowl the entire time and a couple of them waving their canes in disagreement. It was such a big win for Trump and a big win for America. But I want to go deeper on something here that I said on the radio. I was saying that the hatred from the Democrats on Trump is oozing out of those coming out of their pores, their hatred of Trump.
They're seething with hatred. TDS is very real. The derangement, the Trump derangement syndrome. So it's not about hatred, and a gentleman called in. It's a no-sider. It's actually deeper than hate.
It's contempt.
And I thought, oh, that's interesting.
Is that deeper? Is contempt worse than hate? So we consulted the dictionary, but like the dictionary, the original dictionary, Noah Webster's 1828. Go to Webster's Dictionary, 1828.com, and there is the first original, not woke, dictionary.
There's something else wonderful about this dictionary, which we'll reveal itself in just a moment. But sure enough, you look up contempt, the act of despising. And Noah Webster said, this word is one of the strongest expressions of a mean opinion which the language affords. Now so the guy was right.
which the language affords." So the guy was right, yeah, contempt is worse than hate. Now the best thing about this dictionary is they always, when possible, give a biblical reference. So they quote, Noah Webster quotes Daniel 12. And Daniel 12 says,
And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to shame and everlasting contempt. We're talking about hell. Contempt is a euphemism for hell. It's everlasting. There's no way out. Revelation 2010 says, The devil who deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone
where the beast and the false prophet are, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever." Day and night forever and ever. Everlasting. Everlasting contempt. That's just a little bonus point there.
But my main point here is that that's the word contempt. It means hell. Now back to Noah's dictionary. It says see the word contempt. I've never heard that word before. C-O-N-T-E-M-N.
To contemn.
Now that word means to despise. To consider and treat as mean and despicable. To scorn. And it gives a couple other biblical references. Psalm 1013. Why does the wicked renounce God?
And the actual word there is contemn God. Why does the wicked contemn God? Despise. Scorn God. And then he answers. He says in his heart, so this is the wicked says in his heart, you will not require an account. People will sin and
hate God because at the moment there may not be a punishment right away so they think there never will be one. Ah, don't worry about it. You'll never be held to account. You'll never, as recorded in Daniel, you'll never be judged and then sentenced to either everlasting life or everlasting hell. That'll never be you.
No, that's not real. That's why the wicked contends God. Then Psalm 107, 11, those who sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, bound in affliction and irons, because they rebelled against the words of God
and despised the counsel of the Most High. The word despised can also be contemned. They contemned, they hated God's word and God's advice. Now someone may say, but Slater, these Democrats, they think that Trump is evil. They think he is vile. Well, here's the difference.
Ephesians 6.12 says, we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. These people hate that guy. That's very different than what we are called to do and where our focus is called to be. We quoted Amos just the other day, love what is good, hate what is evil, pretty simple.
We need to make sure that the devil never gets a foothold anywhere near our hearts because he will make that contempt get such a deep place in our soul that it's who we become where we can't even see good. It's right in front of us. MikeSlater.Locals.com The transcript and no commercials The transcript and no commercials over on the website MikeSlater.Locals.com
