There is plenty to celebrate today and a lot to be excited about. As for Trump, will he be a Jehu or will God use him as a Josiah? Either way, we have our commission.
Politics by Faith brought to you by the Patriot Gold Group. Here we go, our first episode since the election that Donald Trump won and Republicans took the Senate and most likely will now take the House. And to get even more excited about this, the 250th anniversary of America is coming up in two years now. I brought this up about a year or so ago.
I was like, we're coming up on the 250 and no one did. So I looked at the bicentennial and it was like a 10 year buildup of committees and figuring out what they were gonna do and they were gonna have one big party. They decided to have a bunch of little parties
across the country, smaller parties, but it was like a whole thing and they had a logo. And it was a 10 year process and we're two years away and no one's done anything. And sure enough, Donald Trump, the very first video he made after he won was about the party he's gonna throw
for our 250th anniversary. I just think about what party Kamala would have thrown. Right, if the left was in charge, it'd be like, like one big, like America is evil and awful, and we had slavery, like, like struggle session instead of what we're gonna do now.
But not only do we have 250th anniversary, the 2026 World Cup is in America, and the 2028 Olympics are in Los Angeles. Come on now. It's going to be a fun four years. It really is.
It's going to be a fun four years because the left is not only did we win but just the left was soundly rebuked and we can now get down to business. It's also better that Trump is the president now than in 2020 because if he won in 2020, then he would have had a Democrat house and a Democrat Senate. So nothing would have happened, just impeachment. He would have been impeached 142 times.
None of his appointments would have gotten through the Senate. Nothing would happen. And there was one Supreme Court fulfillment that Biden did. There's a chance, certainly Biden will, excuse me, Trump will do two now. Clarence Thomas and Alito. Sonia Sotomayor has some health issues so there may be three again. But even if Trump just appoints these next two, he will have appointed a majority of the Supreme
Court. That has only happened, see I wrote this down somewhere, that's only happened Lincoln and Taft and Trump. Incredible. So it's gonna be a fun next few years and and the way God works it's better to have Trump be present. Oh also Trump got rid of all this deep state guys that were in his cabinet right there's no more Mike Kelly's there anymore. Got rid of Pence and replaced him with JD Vance and there's way more of a future now for the MAGA movement moving forward than there would have been if Trump was the president in 2020.
So this is way better. And I hope you're feeling good about it. I got a wonderful text from my wife yesterday. I thought was really good. She said when the election results are coming in, she said, I'm so happy for him in our country. God is so good to us because Kamala is what we deserve. I think that's right. And I'm excited for the next four years because sure we won on Tuesday, but now we have to
win every day. We have to govern every day. We have to do what is right every day. And there's no excuses right now because the left has no control over anything. No excuses. We have to be great and we have to do well and we have to do good.
Proverbs 11 5 says, The righteousness of the blameless keeps his way straight, but the wicked falls by his own wickedness. And then verse 10, When it goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices, and when the wicked perish, there are shouts of gladness. I want to steal a point from Josh Howerton. He said,
We did not elect a perfect man. He said, We elected Jehu. His point is, we need to keep praying. It's not like we won. Yay, hooray, we're done. No, no, no, you got to keep praying always. We didn't elect a perfect man. He said, We elected a Jehu, a flawed leader who defeated a greater evil, not a Josiah, a righteous leader who led a national revival.
And that comes with its risks. So let's chat about that. So who's Jehu? The king of Israel before him was Ahab, and he was awful. That's not my assessment, that is God's. First Kings 1630 says that Ahab did more evil
in the eyes of the Lord than any of those before him. He married Jezebel, and they worshiped Baal, and just couldn't have been worse. So God chose Jehu to enact his judgment against Ahab and Ahab's family. And Jehu, among other things, he killed all the priests of Baal and destroyed their temple for Baal worship and restored the kingdom. And God was happy. Second Kings 10 says that the
Lord said to Jehu, because you have done well in carrying out what is right in my eyes, and have done to the house of Ahab according to all that was in my heart, your sons of the fourth generation shall sit on the throne of Israel." Pretty good. But Jehu did not destroy all the idols in Israel. He did not destroy the golden calves. The Bible says, but Jehu did not turn aside from the sins of Jeroboam, the son of Nebat,
which he made Israel to sin. That is the golden calves that were in Bethel and in Dan. So even though Baal worship was gone, other types of idolatry remained. And there's questions like, why not? Like, what's up, Jehu?
Why did you go all the way? There's one theory, and I don't know, but there's one theory that Baal was seen as a foreign god. So he's like, let's get rid of that, but the golden calves are seen as more of like a like a domestic god, created and installed by Israel, so he didn't get rid of those. We don't
exactly know why he didn't get rid of it, but God wasn't happy and he decreased the size and power of of Israel when he was king. I like this analysis. Through Jehu, we can learn that although it is true that God blesses and grants success to those who seek to obey him, which we must, God also can and will pull away his blessing from one who willfully chooses to live in sin. As Jesus says in Matthew 6 24, no one can serve two masters. Either you will hate one and love the other or you will be devoted to one and despise the other. We cannot serve God while continuing to
hold on to false gods. So the argument from Josh Howerton is that Trump could be more like Jehu, meaning way better than Ahab, and still do amazing things, but not fully what we need, as opposed to a Josiah. Josiah was the son and grandson of two wicked kings, began his reign at eight, and this is when they rediscovered the law of the Lord. 2 Kings 22. He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord and walked in all the way of David his father and he did not turn aside to the right or to the left. Josiah, he did it right. He rebuilt the temple and when
they found the book of the law he mourned and repented and led a national repentance and revival. Now who knows, I don't know what's going to happen in the next four years. Maybe Trump can do that too. God can do amazing things. But I'm okay with Trump leading the political effort and the rest. You know, we can do ourselves. I don't say we can do ourselves. God can work through us too. Not everything has to go through one man.
We should do a study on Josiah. God said, before him there was no king like him, who turned to the Lord with all his heart, with all his soul, with all his might, according to all the law of Moses, nor did any like him arise after him." So we need to keep praying for Trump, the people around him, goodness, just our government in general, this country.
We won an election, but we didn't save our country yet. You with me? We have a lot of stuff to do. But then the main priority, of course, we can't forget, is to save souls. That's our main job, make disciples,
to live godly lives, glorify God in all that we do, whether we're governing countries, or parents, kids, employees, whatever it is. Oh, I got a great email. This is perfect. I just got a wonderful email.
I got a ton of emails today. So where am I gonna find this? I could press pause and just come back momentarily.
Here it is. It's from Steven.
Always encouraged to hear your show, keep up the good work. Here I'm putting my 38 years of industry experience to use by training up godly computer scientists to go into the mission field of technology. Isn't that awesome?
He's a professor at a university. He's training up godly, not just computer scientists, to go get a job. He's training up godly computer scientists to go into a mission field that is technology. That is a perfect example, that's from Stephen,
of glorifying God in whatever we do. Wonderful. And there's ways to glorify God through political processes and it's gonna be fun and it's gonna be exciting and we are gonna make people's lives better. We had a phone call yesterday from somebody who's like,
hey, let's not over complicate what happened here. The Biden-Harris administration passed policies, mainly $6 trillion in new spending and open borders. They did those two things and it hurt people. I was gonna say made people's lives worse. That's true too, but it hurt people.
Their policies hurt people. We need to now enact policies that help people. We're going to make people's lives better. But we also can't lose sight of salvation. That's the ultimate goal. Political leaders come and go.
God is forever. We have to always focus on Him first and foremost. Praise Him and glorify Him. MikeSlater.Locals.com Transcript and no commercials. Transcript and no commercials. MikeSlater.Locals.com
