When can you, as Jesus said, "Dust off your feet" from people, and when should you persevere in spreading the Good News? Good thing God never gave up on you and good thing this one church never called me swine, even when I was asking like it.
Good morning. Welcome to The Morning Motivation, brought to you by Patriot Gold Group and Public Square. I got a couple emails regarding yesterday's Don't Cast Pearls Before Swine scripture. So the point of that scripture is that you should, of course, share the gospel whenever possible, the good news. Dogs and swine will ridicule and reject what you say outright. Okay, just move on. We are responsible to share the good news. We are not responsible for people's response to the good news. Now, you can share it in improper ways and un-tactful as Edward and you are responsible for that But how people respond that's not up to you Jesus uses the expression dust off your feet so he tells his disciples to go out and tell people all about him and Jesus says and if any place will not welcome you or listen to you leave that place and Shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them. It's just forget it. Move on. Wash your hands of them. You've done all you can. Move on. And it takes discernment to figure out when you should be patient and not give up and persevere with someone who may seem reluctant to say the least. And when other times you just got to move on and when you do move on you can still have a clear conscience. Shake the dust off your feet and keep moving and when people who act like dogs and swine reject the gospel, it's okay. Well, it's okay for you. It's not okay for them. Jesus said, truly, I tell you and when he says, truly, I tell you, you gotta listen. It'll be more bearable for Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for that town. It didn't go well for Sodom and Gomorrah to be clear but it's it's better for them than it will for the person who rejects the good news. But also, and I keep going back and forth on this, it's so tricky because listen, every time you read about a bad guy in a story, in the Bible or anywhere, you're the bad guy. When you read about Judas betraying Jesus, you're Judas. The church I go to is called Barabbas Church because you're Barabbas, you're Barabbas in the story, you're Judas.

In these stories, you're the swine and the dog. You were at one point, Romans 5.10, it says, for while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of the Son. We were enemies. You were an enemy. You were the pearl, or you were the swine and the dog. I remember this was before I was a Christian. I've never shared this story. I went to a church with a friend just to make fun of it. Just to make fun of it with the person I went with. Both of us snickering to each other. We didn't, well, we didn't cause a big scene, but I'm sure the people around us knew what we were doing.

To my shame, all of it, I remember it quite vividly. I wish I could apologize to the people there. I was wrong. They were right. They were right. Now we're both saved. Me and the people at that church. So it's okay. But I wish I could tell them, I insulted you. I rejected you.

I laughed at you. I was swine. I'm so sorry, but God never gave up on me. So let's not be too quick to give up on anyone else. Wow, that takes incredible discernment to know who you should not give up on and when you should shake the dust off your feet. I don't know. I don't know what the difference is. That's a Holy Spirit discernment that we should all pray for. Tomorrow, I want to debunk one of these Christian-ese expressions that you've heard before that's just not true.

You've heard it, preach the gospel! And if necessary, you know the rest. We'll debunk it tomorrow.
