Why do we think the Christian life is a Cruise Ship? Where did we get that idea from? It's certainly not from the Bible. We'll prove it.
Good morning! Welcome to The Morning Motivation, brought to you by the Public Square App and Patriot Gold Group. Thanks for being here. This week we're talking about how Christianity is a fight. Many Americans, when they became Christian, thought or decided or were led to believe that the Christian life is a cruise ship and not a battleship. One of the most known, yet overlooked, words from Jesus, Matthew 7, 13, Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate, and broad is the road, That leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate, and narrow is the road, That leads to life, and only a few find it.

Gosh, we should do a week just on those two sentences. But the cruise ship will take you to all the best spots in the world, all the most luxurious resorts, and it's so comfortable and beautiful. The boat will never rock at all. You'll never get seasick. Everything will just go perfectly swell. The battleship doesn't go to Cancun. But look what God's Word says about battle. Fight the good fight of faith. Lay hold on eternal life.

Endure hardness as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand up against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the rulers of the darkness of the world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Therefore take unto you the whole armor of God that you may be able to withstand in the evil day and having done all to stand. Strive to enter in at the straight gate. Labor for the meat that endures for everlasting life.

Think not that I'm the one to send peace on the earth. I come not to send peace but a sword. Jesus says he that has no sword, tell him to sell his garment and buy one." This is a great one from 1 Corinthians 6.13. Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. That's all in the Bible. J.C. Ryle says, Words such as these appear to me clear, plain, and unmistakable. They all teach one and the same great lesson, if we are willing to receive it.

That lesson is that true Christianity is a struggle, a fight, and a warfare. But the good news is, Jesus already won. Jesus said in John 16, 33, I've said these things to you, that in me you may have peace, in the world you will have tribulation, but take heart, I have overcome the world. That's the best news ever. Imagine if you're in a group of 100 soldiers and you're ready to take on the enemy but then you see in the distance the enemy's a hundred thousand soldiers coming over the hill and I don't know how you imagine I don't know if you imagine that like like medieval warfare or like what time period you're choosing like a civil war soldiers or today I don't know how you're imagining it but just imagine it like truly like like imagine every single aspect of you being overwhelmed in a comically absurd way if it would be in modern times, it's you and 100 other soldiers and then coming over the horizon are Chinese fighter jets and tanks and 100,000 soldiers.

This is not gonna go well. There's no way you're gonna win this. But then you get word that the entire Air Force of the United States is mere seconds away and your anxiety would turn to confidence real quick. That is who we need to be in this fight, knowing it's a fight and also knowing that you're with Him and you will win because He already did. But this fight requires a large cost, a huge cost. Cost your life. Talk about that tomorrow.
