Anger and envy lead only to torment. To tie this into the top news story this week, people with TDS are doing themselves no favors politically, but they're also living a life of torment. We have to learn from their mistakes.
Good morning. Welcome to the morning motivation brought to you by Patriot goal group and the public square app This week we've been talking about things that poison the soul and I want to transition out of envy and into anger Angers very relevant to the week that is with Donald Trump and the indictments final thought on envy Nathaniel Vincent said in the temper of an envious man? The happiness of another is his misery. The good of another is his affliction. He looks upon the virtue of another with an evil eye and is as sorry as the praise of another, as if that praise were taken away from himself. That's so good. Sorry at the praise of another as if the praise were taken away from him.

Envy makes him a hater of his neighbor, and is his own tormentor. That is a theme that I've been touching on a lot this last week, that Trump derangement syndrome destroys yourself, it destroys you. You think you're destroying Trump, but it destroys you, and you do things that cause Trump to be even more powerful. So it ends up being your own tormentor, even worse. I love that, envy torments you. And the reason why is because you're never content. And the reason you're never content is because you don't love God. When you're envious, you question God's goodness. And when you question God's goodness, you don't run to Him for help. Does that make sense? Those two things, right? If you're envious, why don't I have that? Why isn't God good? God doesn't love me. God, why isn't God here? Right? You start to ask those questions. And then when you question God's goodness, you don't run to him for help. You push away, you do your own thing and you spiral deeper into envy and darkness.

Let's pray that we can all have a thankful, humble and patient heart. The cure for envy is to find contentment in God. No question. Joseph Hall, mid 1500s, he says, there be three unusual causes of ingratitude upon a benefit received. Right? So three responses. One, envy, looking more at the other's benefit than our own. Pride, looking more at ourselves than at the benefit. And covetousness, looking more at what we would have than at what we do have. So envy looks too much at other people, pride looks too much at ourself, and covetousness looks too much at the thing we don't have. Envy looks too much at other people, pride looks too much at ourself, and covetousness looks too much at things. Either way, we're not looking at God. Envy, pride, covetousness.

And if I may throw in one more as we talk more about this tomorrow, wrath. That is what ties this all into the news of the week with Donald Trump. People with just a seething anger against him. It is insatiable. They will not stop until he's behind bars and dies in jail. It is our modern day version of exile. I always wondered about exile whenever I was in middle school or ninth grade history class. You learn about exile, like exiling of Napoleon. Like, what was that like? That's what the left is doing against Trump right now.

These people need to quit it with their anger. First of all, it's not politically practical, like it doesn't help you politically. It only makes Trump stronger. It always has, it always will. But more importantly, for this podcast, they need to stop it because it's destroying their relationships with people, and it's making these people miserable when you're so obsessed with one man. They need to step away from their anger. They can't think clearly but this is a good lesson for all of us in our lives as well. Psalm 37 8 says refrain from anger, turn from wrath, do not fret, it leads only to evil.
