One of the roots of Trump Derangement Syndrome is resentment. Let this be a lesson to us to listen to Romans 12 and let vengeance be His.
Good morning, happy Friday. Welcome to the Morning Motivation brought to you by Patriot Gold Group and the Public Square app. So I've been thinking about different aspects of Trump derangement syndrome that are so powerful in people in light of Trump getting indicted for the who knows how many times, facing 400 years in prison. One element is people were so certain that Hillary would win in 2016 and they were wrong and they just couldn't and still can't get over it. So a part of it is this inability to admit they were wrong in their prediction and maybe even more importantly in their assumptions about America. They assumed that everyone in America agreed with me and they assumed wrong and that's crushing. Now it's okay to be wrong about that. It's certainly okay to be wrong about predictions, just a prediction, but it was just it was just perception shattering in profound ways. So they had to try to justify it with it was a Russian hoax and they don't want you to remember this stuff but in 2016 it was Hillary and all the rest who said oh he's not a legitimate president like he didn't legitimately win the election because of Russia and all that right so they're trying to explain it away like I was still right that there's no way Trump could win the only way he sort of Did was because Russia called you colluded with Russia You got to remember Hillary supporters were so far past even the victory party like nothing has ever been more assumed than Hillary would beat this rodeo clown of an orange man and He won it was amazing but it's more than that it's a lot more than just that one other element at play is resentment resentment is defined as a deep sense of injury the excitement of passion which proceeds from a sense of wrong Trump winning was a moral wrong a stain upon the nation and assault and affront to everything that they thought was good and made sense in the world. Resentment comes from the French word meaning an intense feeling just a general intense feeling but it has a negative connotation today as well and you feel resentment when and if you you notice when you ever feel it if you can like really focus in the moment when you love things of the world and lack a faith in God and his plan. That's when you end up you you feel resentment really because of that. It's not because of the thing someone said to you or the thing you don't have. It's because you are too focused on the world and you lack faith in God and his plan. That's where all anxiety comes from as well.

If someone insults you and you feel an intense feeling of anger? I think of David as he was fleeing Jerusalem. This guy Shimei, S-H-I-M-E-I, I think he's spelled Shimei, was swearing at him and insulting him and David instead of getting resentful, instead of getting angry, he chose humility. But it's not even that he chose humility, he really just chose God's plan. And he said, and then humility was the result, he said, if he is cursing because the Lord said to him, curse David, who can ask why do you do this? So he didn't even bother being like, why are you yelling at me? He's like, well, God is in control, so who am I to question? I love this description of resentment. I think this is great. Resentment is a passive, weak emotion that has no place in the Christian life. If there is injustice, we should deal with it through prayer and godly action. If there is insult, we should concentrate on who we are in Christ and not place too much value on the cruel words of others. If we face injustice in the course of our work for God, we should accept that to be expected. And if God allows us to be dishonored for the sake of sanctification, meaning trouble comes, turmoil, trials that make you more holy.

So if God allows us to be dishonored for the sake of sanctification, becoming more holy, the best, least painful response is to repent and allow him to work in us. Wow, four great responses to resentment. Maybe four different ways you can feel resentment and how to respond to each one. That's so good. So, just like you can't serve two masters, you can't cling to bitterness and to god. You just you can't you can't do both. How about this from Romans twelve? Paul says, beloved, never avenge yourselves. Oh, that's so hard.

Never avenge yourselves. Believe it to the wrath of god. For it's written, vengeance is mine. I will repay, says the lord. We always think when we feel resentment, we always think it's because of an injustice that someone did against us and then we have to be the person to to take the revenge for it. Like I've been wronged and I've been wronged by someone who doesn't even, hasn't even apologized and I need to make sure that justice is done. This is what the left is doing with Trump, right? I, this is wrong. I want it. Can't believe he won ever. He's so horribly so awful. I need to seek revenge. I need to make sure that he goes to jail forever. That's the revenge out of resentment. But we need to be the people who can let the resentment go away. John Piper, his mom was killed by a junk driver when she was in Israel and he And he took a long time, but he learned to forgive the soldiers who were driving drunk.

He said, as one who lived since 28, not carrying that grudge, I commend you to live this life. It is a free, a one without a grudge. It is a free and wonderful life. And in the life of freedom, you say, God, if there is some vengeance to be done there, I just hand it over to you. And if there's salvation to be done there, I pray that you would do it. May the gospel reach these men who in their drunkenness caused my mother's death at age 28. So that she only knew one of my five children. But I love it to God if there's vengeance, you got it. If there's salvation, you got it. If there's sanctification to be done, like I can't do that you it's yours.

And that's what the scriptures say, vengeance is mine. What we're seeing play out with Trump Derangement Syndrome is people who are full of resentment and intense passion, and they can't trust God.
