In light of the debate tomorrow, this is the beginning of a new era of deceit and lies coming our way. Let's be on the lookout.
Good morning, welcome to Morning Motivation brought to you by the Patriot Gold Group and the Public Square app. I came across this Spurgeon sermon about the spider's web, and I think this is a good point to make in light of the debate coming up tomorrow. It's from Isaiah 59, Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God. Your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear. For your hands are stained with blood, your fingers with guilt, your lips have spoken falsely and your tongue mutters wicked things. Do you feel convicted yet?

No one calls for justice, no one pleads a case with integrity. They rely on empty arguments. They utter lies. They conceive trouble and give birth to evil. They hatch the eggs of vipers and spin a spider's web. There's more to Isaiah 59 but we'll stop there. They spin a spider's web. Who does? Sinners. Specifically deceivers. A couple things about the Three points. First, the spider's web is beautiful. We saw one just the other day. We went on a hike in our backyard. We don't have like acres and acres. In the distance there are woods. We went hiking and we saw a beautiful spider's web. Jack saw it first. He said, wow, look at that. It was huge. It had to be three feet diameter and just perfectly symmetrical, perfectly woven. The distance between every strand was exactly a quarter of an inch or whatever it was. It was just perfect. Incredible skill. How is that possible? How can a spider do that? How does the spider know how to do that?

Incredible skill. Same with all kinds of deceivers. Let's just focus on political deceivers. They are good. They are good at it. As Spurgeon said, they're good at making the barefaced lie look like truth and the tinsel like gold. Second point, spiders' webs come from inside them. I don't know how that's possible either. Bees gather pollen from flowers, ants collect leaves from outside of the colony, but spiders spin their webs from inside themselves. Similarly, with deceivers, they place their trust in themselves. They lay their foundation and they put up their pillars of their house all on themselves, and they don't acknowledge their debt to God. It all comes from inside, not from up above.

The first thing I shared is bad, right? That their deceit is good. Like, they think they're good at it. The second thing is okay. It's just a matter of time before their lives are exposed and it all comes crumbling down. But that's the third point, which is good. The spider's web is very frail. Just push it away. It's very carefully made, but not enduringly made. It's no match for a three-year-old with a stick. Just a puff of wind can knock it down. Just a little bit of truth. Spurgeon says, oh, my soul rests on something better than the spider's web.

May the Lord Jesus be your eternal hiding place. And can we all, on Wednesday, and throughout this entire campaign, and our entire lives, and every realm of our life, be aware of the deceivers, and just know that just a little bit of truth, just the truth of the Bible, can just knock it down.
