This is one of the largest dividing lines between Christians and non-Christians, and also the widest chasm between Progressives and Conservatives. Whichever side you pick determines nearly everything about your life. So let's answer this question and explore the ramifications.
Good morning, welcome to Morning Motivation brought to you by Patriot Gold Group and the Public Square app. Very excited for this week of episodes. I have a lot of thoughts here and we'll see if we can combine them all into one cohesive theme. I think we did a week on this before, but it's so essential. I think it's the fundamental dividing line, because it's a sort of a political podcast is the fundamental dividing line between progressives and conservatives, certainly between Christians and non-Christians. Do you believe that people are born good or do you believe that people are born sinful? Whichever you pick will send you in a completely different direction on almost every, I would say every, but I haven't considered every issue, so I will say almost every, probably every political issue there is. And that's what I want to explore a bit this week. So the first question is, are you born good?

Let's answer that, get that out of the way, and then we can talk about the ramifications of that. The Bible says no. Now you can think whatever you want. I remember when I was first encountering this many years ago, I was talking to my father-in-law and I said, you know, there's a lot of people who think that you are born good. And he said, well, those people are wrong. I can't say it quite like he did, but he's from East Tennessee, the way he said it was very funny, but those people would be wrong. Just as matter of fact as can be. Those people are wrong. Oh no, you can't say that about what someone believes. You can think whatever you want, but if you believe the Bible, then there it is. Psalm 14, 2. The Lord looks down from heaven on the children of man to see if there are any who understand, who seek after God. They have all turned aside. Together they have become corrupt. There is none who does good, not even one. Oh, well, but I and my kids and but... Luke 18, 19 And Jesus said to him, Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone. Romans 5.18 Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men. The one trespass was Adam. 1 Corinthians 15.22 For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive. But again, all die, all condemned, no one good. Ephesians 2 3 among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh carrying out the desires of the body in the mind and were by nature children of wrath like the rest of mankind I couldn't be more clear I want to do more research on the people the Christians who do think you're born good I don't know what that argument is it's all right here now the good news is and maybe this is why people don't want to believe this, is because they think that's just the end of the story. But it's clearly not the end of the story. There's good news at the end of this. But in order for there to be good news, there has to be bad news. But people want to ignore the bad news, but then there's no good news. So the bad news is you're born wretched, condemned, all these things that we've talked about. But you can be born again. In fact, that's the only way out. John 3, 3, truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again. He cannot see the kingdom of God. I Love this line from Tim Keller. He said you are more sinful than you know, and that's true That's one of the main things is so not politically correct It's so Against the whole postmodern philosophies which we're talking about this week. I like this idea that you are sinful. It's just so rejected You are more sinful than you know It's so rejected. You are more sinful than you know. And people hate to hear that. But you are also more loved than you can imagine. You're more sinful than you know, more loved than you imagine. So what does this all mean? And particularly, what does it mean in a political context, and that's what we will talk about tomorrow. Mike Slater dot locals dot com for the full transcript, commercial free, the night before.
