This is a word I skimmed over 100 times before it finally hit me. In Psalm 5, What was David watching?
Good morning. Welcome to the Morning Motivation brought to you by Patriot Goal Group and the Public Square app. It's been a great week. Going through just the first few lines of Psalm 5, we've talked about how you can approach God with confidence. You can approach Him humbly, personally, fully, meaning you don't have to be rushed. He's giving you all the time. He's fully focused on you because He's outside of time. You can approach Him, we talked about it yesterday, consistently, every morning and all day, of course. And you can also come to God expectantly. Check out this great line here that I read over so quickly, I just zip right by. I read Psalm 5 ten times and I missed it each time. Psalm 5 3, O Lord in the morning you hear my voice. In the morning I prepare a sacrifice for you and watch. Did you catch the interesting line? I mean every word is important right? I prepare a sacrifice for you and watch, watch what? He watches and waits for God's response. This theme shows up a few times. Psalm 37, fret not yourself because of evildoers, be not envious of wrongdoers, for they will soon fade like the grass and wither like the green herb. Trust in the Lord and do good, dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness, delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust in Him, and He will act. He will bring forth your righteousness as the light and your justice as the noonday. the Lord and wait patiently for Him. Fret not yourself over the one who prospers in His way over the man who carries out evil devices. Be still before the Lord, wait patiently for Him. Psalm 130 verse 5, I wait for the Lord more than watchmen in the morning." David expects God to respond. He says, surely, right? Because he wouldn't say, in the morning, if he didn't, he'd say, in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for you. And that's it, I guess. Or I prepare a sacrifice for you and, you know, holler at me if you want. I prepare a sacrifice for you, and I watch. I wait patiently. Now maybe God doesn't respond exactly how you envision it. Surely, he won't actually. Be on the lookout for God moving. In Matthew, a man came to Jesus and said his son was suffering, and your disciples couldn't heal him. And then Jesus rebuked the demon inside of the boy, and the disciples asked Jesus, why could we not cast it out? And he said, because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to the mountain, move from here to there, and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you. We have little faith. We either think God can't move, or we can go through our life knowing that God moves, and He's always moving. And He's moving for you because He loves you. Even if we're not waiting and watching and looking like we should be, like David did. I love the old joke about the guy stuck on a rooftop of a flood. Hurricane came through, big flood, he's stuck on the rooftop. He's praying to God for help. God, please get me off of this roof. So a man in a rowboat comes by and says, Jump in, I'll save you. And the guy on the roof says, No, it's okay, I'm praying to God. He's going to save me. So the rowboat goes on, and then a motorboat came by. And the guy on the motorboat said, jump in, I can save you. And the guy on the roof said, no, I'm praying to God, he's going to save me, I have faith. So the motorboat goes on, then a helicopter comes by and the pilot's like, get out, grab the rope, we'll save you. And the man on the roof said, no, no, I'm praying to God, he's going to save me. So the helicopter flew away. And then the water rose and the man drowned and he goes to heaven. And he said, God, I had faith in you, but you didn't save me. You let me drown. Why?
And God said, I sent you a rowboat and a motorboat and a helicopter. What more do you want? Be on the lookout and watch for God in your life. Mike Slater dot locals dot com. Commercial free.
