How can one find any peace in the midst of war and death and destruction and cruelty? Of all verses, the beginning of Romans 11 is about Jewish people and the end of Romans 11 can give us some peace we need.
Good morning, welcome to Morning Motivation brought to you by Patriot Goal Group and the Public Square app. We need to take some time to talk about Israel. You know by now of course, terrible attack from Hamas into Israel. The video and the pictures have been horrific and women taken hostage or worse and we're surely in the early stages of some real death and destruction. Right now, it's almost a thousand people dead, but it'll be much, much more than that. I don't know how many of the stories we'll even hear, the stories of cruelty beyond our understanding. There's one story of a terrorist killing a grandmother or finding a grandmother, getting her phone, logging into her Facebook and live-streaming her execution for her friends and family.

Another story of terrorists kidnapping two young sisters in their 20s and calling their parents to torment them on the phone as they murdered them and worse. I don't see how Israel doesn't invade Gaza and just kill a lot of people. The Prime Minister said we've always known what Hamas is now the world knows Hamas is ISIS. Hamas is ISIS if we eliminate it exactly the same manner that the enlightened world eliminated ISIS. So I'm on vacation this week with the family. I'm in Florida this week so that's why we didn't do a podcast yesterday and I've been a little absent or out. But there's just one thing I want to add to the conversation, just one thought, something to keep in mind as we proceed here.

There are certainly a lot of emotions. And also there's a lot of the Bible where different denominations, it can be very complicated when it comes to Israel. And that's not exactly what we do here. But I just want to start with something that has brought me peace while thinking about as I've gotten very angry, because that's the point of this podcast is to bring peace. Romans 11, I encourage you to read it. It talks about the Jews. Paul said, I asked then, did God reject his people? By no means.

I'm an Israelite myself, a descendant of Abraham from the tribe of Benjamin. God did not reject his people whom he foreknew. And you go on there's a ton of detail about how and all the rest. That's great. We may go over it this week. But how does it end? That's what I want to share here. The end of Romans 11. Paul says, Oh the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God. How unsearchable his judgments and his paths beyond tracing out. Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been His counselor? Who has ever given to God? Then God should repay them.

For from Him and through Him and for Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen. God is in control of this. He's in control of this too. And I know that is not a comfort. And it's not even comfortable to hear in the midst of terror, which is why we need to hear it all the time. And we need to know it's true all the time. So when an absolute horror comes into our life, you already know it's true.

God is in control here. Now we still have free will. And of course, we have to hate evil, as it says in Psalms 98. Psalm 97, Zion hears and rejoices and the villages of Judah are glad because of your judgments Lord. For you Lord are the most high over all the earth. You are exalted far above all gods. Let those who love the Lord hate evil. For he guards the lives of his faithful ones and delivers them from the hand of the wicked. Light shines on the righteous in joy, on the upright in heart rejoice in the Lord, you who are righteous, and praise His holy name.

God is always in control. There is evil in the world and we are to hate it. We are to hate evil and we are to respond appropriately to it, all while knowing that God is totally in control. Hopefully that can bring some peace in the midst of this absolute chaos, death, destruction, and the horror of war.
