Paul tells Christians that all of these wonderful things have been given to you because of the "partial hardening of Israel", and then immediately warns, "But don't get proud and boastful or arrogant". Christians mustn't be anti-Semitic. Paul tells us why.
Good morning. Welcome to The Morning Motivation, brought to you by Patriot Gold Group Public Square App. All right. So where are we so far? The genesis of this is, what is the connection between Christians and Jews and Christians and Israel? On Monday, we talked about how with anger towards the Jews, but he has not rejected them. We're talking a lot about Romans 11 here. Paul says, by no means has God rejected the Jews. Well, why not? Why has God? How can he burn with anger but not reject them? Especially as they reject Jesus, that killed them. Why has God not rejected them? Well, we talked about this on Tuesday, the Abrahamic covenant. God promised Abraham, the father of the Jews, unconditionally that he will bless his chosen people. Genesis 12, I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you. I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you, I will curse. Okay, so that's Monday and Tuesday. Today's Wednesday. What does all this mean for us? Paul makes the point that the well-being of the root is the basis, is the root, for the well-being of the branches and the fruit. You are the Romans 11, 6, Paul says, if the dough, excuse me, 16, if the dough offered as first fruits is holy, so is the whole lump. And if the root is holy, so are the branches. But if some of the branches were broken off, the Jews, and you, although a wild olive shoot. So you were not originally of this tree. You were not a Jew. You're Gentile. And you, although a wild olive shoot, were grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing root of the olive tree. Do not be arrogant toward the branches. If you are, remember it is not you who support the root, but the root that supports you. Israel, now this does not mean, and Paul talks about this in Romans 9, not every Jew, but Israel, the nation, is going to be saved. But for now, there are broken off branches. There are individual Jewish people who do not believe in Jesus as the Messiah, and they are not connected to the covenant. So just because they were a natural branch of this olive tree does not guarantee that they are still and always will be a part of this nourishing root of the tree. But you, Gentile, who believe in Jesus, the Messiah, you've been grafted into the tree. You've joined into the tree with its Jewish roots. Matthew 10.32, Jesus says, Everyone who acknowledges Me before men, I also will acknowledge before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven." So Jesus is the only way. He is the only way to be connected to the root. That's it. So Jews were broken off and Gentiles were grafted in. That's a wonderful thing for you and me. Verse 12. Their trespass, Romans 11, verse 12, their trespass, Jews, means riches for the world. And their failure means riches for the Gentiles. So the Jews are broken off so that we may be grafted in. Verse 15, there the Jews' rejection means the reconciliation of the world. So Jews broken off, Gentiles grafted in. So what's the root? The promises that were made to Israel. It's the covenant that we talked about yesterday. That's the Abrahamic covenant. You are now grafted into that. You are now the offspring of Abraham. If you're a Christian, you are an heir to Abraham.

How do I know? Are you making that up, Slater? How do you know? Galatians 3.7. those of faith who are the sons of Abraham. Those of faith in Jesus. You are the son of Abraham. It is your faith in Jesus that unites you to the nourishing root of the olive tree, the Abrahamic covenant. Now, that's a beautiful thing, but there's a danger to this. And Paul's very concerned about the danger and the pitfalls of this reality. And we'll talk about that tomorrow. But let's review this. You have been grafted into the tree. I don't know why that's the sound effect of grafting, but you are grafted into the tree, the tree that is nourished by its roots. What roots? The roots of Judaism. The father of tree, the tree that is nourished by its roots. What roots? The roots of Judaism. The father of which is Abraham.
