This has been a difficult week. Romans 11 is a difficult chapter of scripture. Making sense of the Middle East today is difficult. Paul knew how difficult this could be to understand, which is why he ended Romans 11 the way he did.
Good morning. Welcome to Morning Motivation brought to you by Patriot Goal Group and the Public Square app. How to end this week. It's a week of episodes that's been different from the normal podcast. I hope it was meaningful to you in some way. I hope it provided some background context to everything that's going on in the Middle East, Christians and Israel, and the relationship between Christians and Jews as well. Just to reiterate yesterday's point, you should be grateful that there is a hardening of Israel at the moment. Those Jews who don't want to, don't believe in Jesus as the Messiah. But don't be boastful about it. Don't get arrogant towards the Jews for it. Instead we need to be grateful to Judaism because you are now grafted into the Jewish roots. And one day God will save Israel. How do I know that? Romans 11 26 all Israel will be saved. That's where I got that from. Paul says Israel, they're enemies of God because of their rejection of the gospel and yet beloved by God because of God's faithfulness to the covenant promise he made to Abraham. That's what we talked about I think on Wednesday. Check out this in Deuteronomy. That's how I want to end the week here. So we got God talking to Moses here. So Moses and the Israelites are on the verge of going into the promised land. This is Deuteronomy 28. God said if you are not faithful to the Mosaic law it will not go well for you. You will be scattered among the nations. Here's verse 58. If you're not careful to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that you may fear this glorious and awesome name, the Lord your God, then the Lord will bring on you and your offspring extraordinary affliction, affliction severe and lasting, and sickness grieving and lasting. Whereas you were as numerous as the stars in heaven, you shall be left few in number, because you did not obey the voice of the Lord your God. And as the Lord took delight in doing you good and multiplying you, so the Lord will take delight in bringing ruin upon you and destroying you. Here's the key, check this out. And the Lord will scatter you among all peoples from one end of the earth to the other. And there you shall serve other gods of wood and stone, which neither you nor your fathers have known. So that's what God did, scattered the Jews. But then, he says that God will bring repentance and will restore the Jews to the land. And they'll have more blessings than they could imagine. This is a Romans 30, excuse me, Deuteronomy 30. And when all these things came upon you, the blessings and the curse, which I have set before you, and you call them to mind among all the nations where the Lord your God has driven you. And return to the Lord your God, you and your children, and obey His voice in all that I command you today, with all your heart and all your soul. Then the Lord your God will restore your fortunes and have mercy on you. And He will gather you again from all the peoples where the Lord your God has scattered to you.

He will gather you. And the Lord your God will bring you into the land that your fathers possessed, that you may possess it. And He will make you more prosperous and numerous than your fathers. And the Lord your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your offspring, so that you will love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, that you may live. And the Lord your God will put all these curses on your foes and enemies who persecuted you, and you shall again obey the voice of the Lord and keep all his commandments that I commanded you today. The Lord your God will make you abundantly prosperous in all the work of your hand and the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your cattle and the fruit of your ground. And the Lord will again take delight in prospering you as he took delight in your fathers. When you obey the voice of the Lord your God to keep his commandments and his statutes that are written in the book of the law, when you turn to the Lord your God with all your soul. So that's the Mosaic Law. So the Abrahamic Law that we talked about yesterday, it's unconditional. It doesn't matter what the Jews do, God will fulfill the promise. This is a conditional promise. Disobey, bad things happen, obey, good things happen. Pretty simple. But God said here that the Jews will one day be dispersed and then one day will be restored to the land. Now all this and this is honestly there's no other point that you get from this whole week. This is it. God is in control. The ups and downs geopolitically, personally, for you, your family, everyone. The ups and downs and what never makes sense in the moment, God is in control of all of it. And we should be in awe at the mysteries of him and his ways. My favorite part of Romans 11, because you read it, and I've read it 50 times, every time you read it your head is spinning in different ways and for different reasons. You're like, what does that mean? What, oh, who, what is he referencing? The whole thing, your head is spinning, it's out of control. And then Paul ends it, he ends it with, oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God. That's like, I feel that's like a, I'm trying to get articulate. It's a, God, how do you do it? You're amazing. How did you? And there's also a who are we to know how all of this exactly comes together? How unsearchable are his judgments? How inscrutable his ways? For who has known the mind of the Lord and who has been his counselor? Or who has given a gift to him that he might be repaid? For from him and through him and to him are all things. To glory be him. To him be glory forever.

Amen. That's how Paul ends it. He's like, man, I just knew I threw a lot at you right there. And in the end, God, you're amazing. So no matter how awful things seem, how head-spinning things seem, how anxiety-ridden things are making you, how anxiety-ridden things are making you, God has it completely under control.
