"Ye of little faith." Oo. Not what anyone wants to hear. But it's ultimately true if you're anxious and worrying. Ye indeed have little faith. So how do we get the faith back to get rid of the anxiety?
Morning, welcome to the Morning Motivation brought to you by Patriot Gold Group and the Public Square app. Ye of little faith. What an insult that is and would be. Could you imagine on Judgment Day? Ye of little faith. What a terrible thing to hear. The only worst thing would be, I never knew you. That's that it's terrifying. But ye of little faith right behind. What a terrible thing to hear about a Christian, a man or woman of a little faith. But when you worry Mike, that's what you are. When you're anxious you're a man of little faith. We're talking this week about anxiety, because I had it on Monday. And I don't want it. I think we're in an anxious time.
The Bible speaks about it. It's a sin. It's not a disease, it's not a syndrome, it's a sin. God says don't worry. So I'm reading Anxious for Nothing by John MacArthur. And I love this line from MacArthur. He says, Christians who worry. It was me. It is me. Christians who worry believe that God can redeem them, break the shackles of Satan, take them from hell to heaven, put them into his kingdom, transform their nature and give them eternal life, but they don't think that God can get them through the next couple of days. That is pretty ridiculous. We can believe God for the greater gift and then stumble and not believe him for the lesser one. That is indeed ridiculous. That's like, what are we doing? I believe in the inerrancy of scripture. It's perfect, infallible, and true. Also, I worry about things all the time. Check out this truth. When you or I worry, we are choosing to be mastered by our circumstances instead of by the truth of God. Maybe we're not choosing, we're allowing it. We're allowing ourselves to be mastered by our circumstances instead of by the truth of God. We are a slave to our circumstance. I love the use of the word slave. We talked about that last week, maybe two weeks ago. We are a slave to things. If you're an addict to something, you're a slave to it. You may be addicted to worry. You're controlled by it. If you're controlled by it, you're a slave to it. Right? What else are you? I don't want to be a slave to anything. I want to be a slave. That's why the Bible says, take every thought captive. I don't want to be a slave to these thoughts that just swoop into my mind? Come on now. I don't want to be a slave to anything other than a slave to the Lord. The Bible says don't worry. God says don't be anxious. But am I going to keep being anxious?
No. If you're anxious, maybe you don't think of it as a sin. People today think of everything as some sort of disease, some sort of syndrome. We talked on Breitbart News Daily the other day about an Atlantic article about the burden of being an older sister and how older sisters are exhausted. And it was Abigail Schreier who said, knock it off, there are billions of us older sisters. There's no such thing as older sister syndrome. Right, because then you're just wallowing in it. Right now we've named a thing that you have to obsess over and worry about and define yourself by and now it's insurmountable and you just ruminate and wallow in this disease you now have of being the older sister. Anything that is responsibility and duty, we have to avoid it and complain about it and shrink in front of it and define it as some sort of disease. No. Stop making everything a disease. God said don't do it. So if you are, it's a sin. I'm talking to myself.
Because the root of it is you're not trusting God. There's something there, there's something at the root. And if I'm anxious about anything, my cure is to be reminded about the promises of God. The cure is the Word. The cure to anxiety is the Word, His promises, and His goodness. Try it. Try it before anything else. Yes, breathing is good. You should breathe in your nose, by the way. Breathing in your nose is totally better than breathing in your mouth. It's way more powerful. I don't know the science behind it. Breathing is good. Exercise is good. There's things you can do for anxiety. You should go for a walk. All the rest. But nothing will work if you do not get in the Word as well. And remind yourself about what is good and beautiful and true above all else So, what do we replace this anxiety with? Talk about that tomorrow Talk about that tomorrow.
