If you believe in evolution, you're going to be more likely to be for Big Government. If the reason we're more advanced than the monkeys is because of "millions of years", we don't have another million years to wait for more improvement so we need the government to hurry things along! But that's clearly not the Biblical view of man.
Good morning. Welcome to the Morning Motivation brought to you by the Patriot Gold Group and the Public Square app. Next little while here, we're going to be going through Martin Lloyd-Jones' book, The Gospel in Genesis. Yesterday, we were talking about why there's brokenness in the world. The reason we need to understand this is because other people don't. So they're looking for solutions in all the wrong places. We know that there's brokenness in the world because it's written right in Genesis 3. The problem with psychology is psychology starts with you and ends with you. The Bible starts with God literally in the beginning God and then we see the fall where Satan tempted Adam and Eve and they fell and that is why man is no longer what he once was and has become something entirely different different. And if this is true, we believe it is, if you believe the Bible, then you can see how futile all the other solutions of this world are. And if you know what we're really up against, then you of course will conclude that we need something greater than that to win. And the goodness is we have that. So we'll talk about today, whenever I'm in times of anxiety, it's amazing that thoughts come to me instantly when I wake up in the morning. They flood me before I'm even thinking. I don't even have time to think and you're under attack. That's how quick the enemy is. He's stronger than you, that's for sure. And all that comes from Satan and the false right in Genesis 3 right there. If you want to understand you, you need to understand Genesis 3. You either think it's just a nice little story, or it really happened and it's true, and it's the story of you. Romans 5, 12, sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin. And in this way, death came to all people.
Now this is where the wickedness of evolution comes in. in the world says and truly most people in the world say, believe, if they thought about it at all really, they just accept what they kind of hear in the ether. But the weed came from like a bacteria or something, and no one can explain where that first thing came from, but whatever. And then that bacteria turned into a fish, which turned into a frog, which turned into a lizard, and turned into a monkey, and turned into a human. And over millions of years, we have evolved or this bacteria has evolved into something higher and better. And that we're just another animal. And we've evolved with a more developed prefrontal cortex. So we can reason better than the monkeys. And, gosh, wouldn't you know it, we, the monkeys, they use tools, they'll take a stick and stick it in the ground and eat the ants or something. Well, look, the monkeys use tools and we can build cathedrals. But, you know, we're just like the monkeys. And it's just because millions of years, over millions of years, we're slowly improving and developing and we're getting better. And given enough time, give it a few more thousands of years, millions of years, and we will have achieved perfection. And we can speed things up with bigger government. Government's here to bring us that utopia on earth faster than evolution would do it on its own. So if you take this which most people do, dare I say many Christians do as well, then you will come to the conclusion that bad things happen because the government didn't do enough to stop it, to prevent it, government hasn't passed enough laws, or the government hasn't intervened enough in early childhood education, there's not enough government programs or something, or that you'll conclude the real problem is that man hasn't had enough time to shake off the beast that still remains inside of him. The reptilian brain inside of you, the ape brain inside of you is still there. But if we give it enough time, it will go away on its own. You can see how absurd it is. You go back to the very beginning, the first brothers, one of them killed the other one. So we haven't evolved much in the thousands of years between Cain and Abel. And today, I don't know how many more millions of years evolution needs until we're perfect. No, that's not how it all works, of course.
All of our problems exist, not because we're still part monkey, but because we sin. And the one solution to that is Jesus. God gave us the way out. He gave us the way to be redeemed for all of eternity. If I may quote this section from Martin Lloyd-Jones, But thank God man has fallen, condemned, miserable and helpless, but God intervenes. God comes into the wreckage. God visits man and calls him by name and addresses him. God, even at the moment of rebellion, tells man that he has a way to rescue him and to redeem him. The serpent, the arch enemy, the power with which we cannot deal, the God of this world, who is too strong for us, can only be mastered by one, and he has come, the seed of the woman Jesus of Nazareth, the Son of God, for God so loved the world that he gave us one, his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life. Christ, the Son of God, came into this world, took on our human nature, entered into our very situation, and smote our enemy. He conquered the foe and set us free. He received judgment for us. He bore our sins and their punishment in his own body on a cruel cross. God dealt with him there and pardons us. And our enemy is conquered. So the way to paradise is open. And it's open for you. Your misery, all of your problems, all of your needs arise from the fact of sin. They arise because you are in this terrible position face to face with God. That is the cause of all ill. And there's but one solution to the problem. The solution that God himself has provided in the person of his only begotten Son. The answer is not in ourselves. The answer is not in the government. The answer is not in ourselves. The answer is not in the government. The answer is not in a few million more years.
