The Bible says, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom". So if you encounter a fool, what do they think of God?" They certainly have made up their own.
Good morning. Welcome to the Morning Motivation brought to you by the Patriot Gold Group and the Public Square app. Talking about the book, The Gospel and Genesis by Martin Lloyd-Jones. Specifically about why man is the way man is. Why are we the way we are? Why do we have all the problems that we have? And everyone's looking with the wrong solutions because they have the wrong diagnosis. People on the left think that the solution is more government. People on the right are trying all sorts of things that might be closer, but you've got to keep digging. The problem of man is sin. Every problem in our world today is caused by the same question, did God really say? Yes, He did. He really said, but we don't we would only we disobey God and things go poorly. Sin is the source of all of our problems. The solution to that is salvation. This is a clip of Paul Washer. I just came across today. I think fits nicely.

And one of the things you have to realize in the book of Proverbs and in other places, Sexual sin is actually if there was a sin that segregated that is pulled out as extraordinarily dangerous, it is sexual sin. There's indications in places in Proverbs where you don't recover, you don't recover and your reproach never leaves you. So you have got to become convinced that God's word is true. This is deadly. It will affect your soul, your psyche, it will affect you physically, it will affect everything about you and all the people around you and it is deadly, deadly, deadly, deadly, deadly. It will kill you, it will kill you and it is more addictive than anything you could ever dream of, any drug, it is more addictive than that.

So many examples in the Bible, so many warnings, don't do this thing and then people do this thing and bad things happen and we're like oh what cause what's the cause of all these problems like literally name a thing like kids can't read anymore okay well we trace that back to broken homes kids don't have fathers because there was sexual impropriety of one way or the other out of wedlock whatever but all came back to the sin that occurred at the club that night, whatever. You can trace it all back to sin. Every single problem in our life. We talked last week about people questioning the power of God. If you realize the power of God, you wouldn't defy him for one second. It is a fearful thing to fall in the hands of a living God. But we don't understand the power of God so therefore we question God we don't listen to God and then bad things happen there's no fear of God before our eyes the modern man is defined by that Invictus poem I was very popular popular for a long time the movie came out it was even more popular you've heard it before the poem is a part of it is I am the master of my fate I am the captain of my soul it says that I, modern man, am sufficient. I have it all under control. I am in control. I cannot be frightened. I cannot be scared. I'm not afraid of death. I'm not afraid of eternity. I'm not afraid of God. And here's what I want to talk about today. The people who think that God spoils all the fun. There's a lot of people who were raised in the church who grew up and they and what now they're on their own and they say all this Christianity stuff it's really held me down it's robbed me of so much like gonorrhea if only I didn't grow up in the church that I too could have gonorrhea or some other sexually transmitted disease alas I do not I've missed out on so much of life they actually don't finish the sentence with that but that's usually what the rest of the sentence is but it's the same idea that I've been robbed of things because of following God's commands.

There's this idea that the Christian life puts you in chains, keeps you from living your best life. And it comes from this idea that not only we question the power of God, but we question the love of God as well. This idea that God doesn't wish us well, that God doesn't want us to be happy. No, he does. We just need to realize that happiness comes from following his commands. So first we question God's authority. Did he really say? And then we question God's power. I'm the master of my soul. And then we question God's goodness. All that Christian life. It's keeping me down. YOLO. Let me go get that gonorrhea. So here's what people do. I did it. We say, all right, look, God didn't really say this, he didn't really say that. It's in the Bible, but it's a mistranslation and it's a cultural difference. It's 2,000 years later, that's an old timey thing. That God's mean, it's a mean God. So who would do such mean things? Look at what he did to the people in the Old Testament. That's so mean. And he says, I'm a sinner. I'm not a sinner. I'm a good person.

Saying I'm a sinner is mean. That's what the Nazis did, by the way, when they infiltrated and took over their Christian church. They literally said that we're no longer going to teach original sin because the German people have been through enough with World War I. They don't need to feel even worse about themselves, which led to pride, which led to World War II. So all this religious stuff is no good, but we don't want to give up on religion entirely. So we're going to make a religion that's more satisfactory. We're going to make a religion that's more with the times. We're going to make a religion that more conforms with my life. So we'll believe in a God, but not in a God with rules, not with a God that stands in judgment, not with a God that threatens us with hell, goodness no. The God we want, the God we believe in, is a God who tells us that we are great and don't change a thing. And then I'll be happy. But are we? Tomorrow we'll talk about the fig leaf. Why fig leaf?
