What a joke. The Republicans in DC are feckless. The Democrats are ruthless. It's frustrating. I have a suggestion on how we can we find peace in the madness of DC and our busy lives.
Good morning. Welcome to The Morning Motivation brought to you by the Patriot Gold Group. The point of this podcast is to find peace, finding peace in the midst of the madness of the world and of politics. The big news story today is the Democrats yesterday just nixed the whole impeachment trial on Mayorkas, the head of Homeland Security. The House finally impeached Mayorkas, and they laid out their articles of impeachment, and then it goes over to the Senate for a trial,
0:00:36
and the head of the Senate, Chuck Schumer, was just like, nah, we're not gonna do it. So they just voted, boom, 51-49, done, it's over. First time that's ever happened. I was talking to Senator Marshall from Kansas today. He said there's been 21 impeachments in the House. Four of the people died or resigned afterwards, so no trial there, but of the 17 remaining, every single one of them had a trial,
0:00:57
including when Donald Trump was impeached the first time in 2019 when the Republicans held the Senate. And the Republicans still went through the whole rigmarole of a trial, even as ridiculous as that was. This is the first time ever when there was not an actual trial after the House impeached someone. So that precedent has now been set. The house articles of impeachment are pretty blatant. It talks about the willful violation of the law and we see the fruit of it. The articles of impeachment, there's two articles.
0:01:28
The first one talks about the numbers and just not following the law and breaking the law. How in 2017 to 2020, there are about 600,000 illegal aliens every year captured. But during Mayorkas' term, in 2021, it was 1.4 million. 2022, 2.3 million. 2023, 2.4 million, and that number going up now every day. Talked about fentanyl. 2021, 11,000. 2022, 27,000 pounds of fentanyl. Fentanyl is now the number one killer of Americans
0:02:09
between the ages of 18 and 45. It's pretty amazing. 300 a day. 300 Americans a day are killed by fentanyl. Someone called into SiriusXM this morning and said that there are about 350 deaths from all rifles including assault rifles a year and There are that many deaths a day Article one talks about how from 2017 to 2020 there were combined all those years
0:02:36
11 people on the terror watch list who were caught at the border in 2021 there were 15 in 2022 there were 98 and in 2023 there were 169 So far this year 49 people on the terror watch list. So the word has gotten out that you can make it across. Those are the ones just that we captured. Why are they coming to America? That was article one. Now you may be able to say, oh, so that's just, those are just opinions. You say he's breaking some laws. He could say that he's following others. Okay. Article two was all highlighting all the different times that he has lied to Congress. And those are undeniable. You cannot lie to Congress. He did, but apparently he can
0:03:17
now. So that's the big story of the day. It's incredibly frustrating. Democrats know how to play politics. Republicans don't. And he keeps his job and the border stays open. Now we've talked before on this show about the border and the Bible, there's a difference in the Bible between people who are traveling through a different land or foreigners who are living in a different land and the respect that they had for the rule of law and the customs of the land that they're in. We've talked about this before. But there's this progressive belief that borders shouldn't exist at all and that's what Mayorkas truly believes. But in light of this chaos and
0:03:58
much more chaos to come, I want to offer a reminder. I'm grateful to John Eldredge for this insight. We all need rest. Maybe even we all need relief. I had a pretty busy Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. My RPMs are high. You with me? I'm running a high RPM for a long time. Last three days. And I'm tired. I'm tired. We've got the rest of the week here and I want to look forward to it, but I'm tired. I need some relief. So I got to bed pretty early last night. You know, okay, I don't have that, I guess that's relief, but that didn't quite do it.
0:04:40
Maybe you could take a nap. I can't, but even if I could, like that's not it. That's not fulfilling because the truth is I don't need relief, I need restoration. There is a world of difference between those two things. There's a world of difference between relief and restoration. Relief is temporary. Relief is cookies. Relief is ice cream.
0:05:07
Relief is alcohol. Relief is TV, video games, whatever you do to veg out. You'll hear people talk about, I gotta take the edge off, I gotta veg out, I gotta smoke marijuana or whatever, I'm gonna do this to relax. Because people think they need relief. No, you really need restoration.
0:05:28
Yesterday, my wife and I were in the backyard listening to the birds in the forest, just right there, and it wasn't long, we were there for a long time but it was restoring my wife noticed how that the leaves are coming in the trees but they're all different shades of green it was beautiful that's restoring Psalm 23 3 says he restores my soul we shouldn't obviously do a whole study on Psalm 23 but the first line the Lord is my shepherd how about that my shepherd. Spurgeon said, if he be a shepherd to no one else, he is a shepherd to me.
0:06:09
He cares for me, watches over me, preserves me. This is where we need to find true restoration. This is what we actually need. So after a crazy day of politics or a crazy day of life, crazy day of work, you can look for relief from all that, sure. It won't work, and it will probably lead to bad things happening. The relief that we seek usually is destructive,
0:06:35
maybe neutral, at best it's neutral, there's an opportunity cost as well, so if you're doing something that's neutral, you could be doing something good, so there's a negative cost to that, so relief is probably always bad. So let's stop using that as our crutch because what we really need is restoration. And you can find that in nature, you can find that in His creation, and you can find it
