Hosea talks about how Israel has stumbled. This puts it very nicely. There's one reason why they've stumbled and there's one way back to sanity. I think the same is true for us, too.
Good morning, welcome to politics by faith brought to you by the Patriot gold Group every day if you pay attention to the news just bombarded with insanity just on the Trump trial Just because that's top of mind, but we can do anything The statute of limitations expired the judge Donated to the Joe Biden campaign including a group called stop Republicans This is just such a zero crime.

There's so many things like that. You're just like, oh, that's, this is just ridiculous. How is this happening? And that's just one example of the craziness that we're bombarded with every single day. I was reading Hosea the other day, Hosea 4.6. My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.

My people are destroyed. All right. Why? Why are they destroyed? What'd they do? For lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from

being a priest to me. And since you have forgotten the law of your God, I will also forget your children." I heard an analysis of that word knowledge that the Hebrew word there means more than just knowledge of something, it's like an intellectual knowledge, and more of a relational word, to really know someone intimately. And I just looked at the Hebrew definition of the word and I didn't see that in it. The Hebrew definition is knowledge, cunning,

discernment, understanding, wisdom. It's the same word that's used in the garden, the tree of the knowledge, the tree of knowledge of good and evil. But the point is that God wants us to seek him and get his guidance. We're not doing that. I know we're not, I don't do it enough in my life and we're certainly not doing it in our country. We're not seeking His guidance. Proverbs 18 15, the heart of the discerning acquires knowledge. For the ears of the wise seek it out. What knowledge? His knowledge. Because God

knows everything. Psalm 139, Lord you have searched me and know me. Same thing. You know, same word, Hebrew word, when I sit down and when I rise up. You discern my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether.

You have me in behind and before. You lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me. It is high. I cannot attain it." There's the word knowledge again.

Same Hebrew word. God knows everything. We don't. So we better seek our knowledge from Him. But we don't. So back to Hosea, Israel has not sought God.

Israel has been unfaithful. They've worshipped Baal. And God punishes them. Punishes them with enemies rolling in and taking over. This happens time and time again throughout the Bible. God allows the Assyrians to take over, but God still loves them, and God still loves you.

Here's the end of Hosea. When Israel was a child, I loved him. And out of Egypt I called my son. The more they were called, the more they went away. They kept sacrificing to the Baals and burning offering to idols. Yet it was I who taught Ephraim to walk.

I took them up by their arms, but they did not know that I healed them. I led them with cords of kindness, with the bands of love, and I became to them as one who eases the yoke on their jaws. I bent down to them and fed them."

God is a loving Father. He says, how can I give up on you, O Israel? He doesn't want to give up on you. The final chapter, Return, O Israel, to the Lord your God, for you have stumbled because of your iniquity.

We have stumbled. I'm going to do a study tomorrow on the word stumbled. I think that's right. It feels like it doesn't quite characterize where we are in our country, stumbling. The state of the union is stumbling. I think we're worse than that, but the Bible uses this word to describe something that's kind of people that are in pretty bad shape. So stumbled. What does that word mean? It says take with you words and return to the Lord. Assyria shall not save us. We will not ride on horses. We will say no more our God to the work of our hands. That's so good. We won't trust in our own ways anymore. We won't trust in our own hands.

We need to be completely dependent on you, God. And the last note, I love this little footnote. Whoever is wise, let him understand these things. Whoever is discerning, let him know them. For the ways of the Lord are right. And the upright walk in them.

And the transgressors stumble in them. They're to stumble again. But let's just focus on the ways of the Lord. God knows everything. We don't. We have to reach to Him first. We have to ask Him first. Because the ways of the Lord are right. And then we have to walk in them. There's no other way. There's no other way. That we as individuals can get back or we as a country. This is the only way out. It's the only way back. Mike Slater locals comm Mike Slater locals comm Transcript commercial free Mike Slater locals comm
