This morning on the radio I talked about the importance of zooming out when you are feeling anxious or overwhelmed or in despair. Zoom out to find perspective and peace. But it was William, at the end of the show, while telling us the story of how he was withdrawing from Methadone, who properly finished the process. You have to zoom out, but then, don't forget to zoom back in.
Please pray for William in Pennsylvania.

Welcome to Politics by Faith brought to you by the Patriot Gold Group. I had a thing planned for this morning, but we'll call it an audible right now. At the end of the show, someone called in William from Pennsylvania and said sometime last week, I think he said he was having methadone withdrawals. He was a heroin addict. Now he's on methadone.
0:00:28
And something happened where he couldn't get any more methadone and he was going through a major withdrawal. Do you have any experience going through like opium withdrawals or any withdrawals like that? I don't, even alcohol withdrawals. But I have some second hand experience and it sounds absolutely horrific.
0:00:49
and he's telling the story how something happened and somehow turned on the TV and was on the show. And I don't know what I possibly could have said or what he possibly could have, and I don't even know,
0:01:07
I don't know if it was my weekly TV show that we do on The First TV or is it the Breitbart News Daily that's on the TV? I don't know what it was even. But whatever he saw helped him get through this withdrawal period. And he wanted to call in and thank me for it. You know, like, pfft.
0:01:30
You can't, like, what in the world? This was right after, literally the call before this. I think they were late, like, well, it took like two or three phone calls today. The call right before this, someone called in and said she loves the show so much, she's putting me in her will. And I was just joking, but I'd rather,
0:01:47
I'd rather have helped William in that time than be in this woman's will. But how about those for two phone calls right in a row? But here's why I bring it up here. William in Pennsylvania mentioned two insightful things, at least two that stood out I'm sure there were
0:02:03
more he said something along the lines of nothing is within our power only God can do it and that's right I mean Jesus said with man what is impossible but with the earth with man that is impossible we got all things are possible I mean maybe that's a little different but I don't think we can do anything like I'm up to school if I don't think we can do anything. Micro or macro. On a micro level, go ahead and make your heart beat. Go ahead and make
0:02:34
it beat. Right now, make sure it beats. Make the capillaries in your lungs work. Divide your cells. Make sure, remember to divide your cells in your body today. We don't do any of this stuff. You can't do any of it. It's all God. God's in control of all of it. And this really hits home when a baby is growing inside of your wife's womb. Go ahead, man. Make sure that works properly.
0:03:02
You can't do any of this stuff. It's all God. And I know people take that as like, oh, so we should just sit back and do nothing. Of course not. We all have our roles to play beyond that. But I mean, we're not capable of anything and I'm I'm not the half a step
0:03:19
away from being a heroin addict like William I'm the different like we did a segment through the day about how I'm I'm showing lack of willpower with ice cream okay you give me some Aldean's vanilla ice cream and just forget it maybe maybe once I get bored of the vanilla I go I really up the anti-anti-anti-gateway drug, then I get into the cookies and cream. But that's why I don't drink alcohol,
0:03:43
because I know that as soon as I have a sip of alcohol, it's over, it's done. I'd be so addicted to it, I'd be drinking it all the time. And somehow William started doing it and that's it. It's just a super powerful force. And I don't know how much man can get over, but with God, all things are possible.
0:04:06
I think once you realize that, then you can start to take some steps that move you in the right direction. The second insight that William had is that we can all glorify God. He had a nice line about how he was watching the TV and he could tell that the Spirit was working through me, and it's a beautiful line. But William, you're the one who called in and shared your story,
0:04:29
shared some of your testimony from what happened to you in your life just the other day and showed incredible vulnerability and humility and in doing, and then gave credit to God in the process. You just glorified God in an incredible way. And we can all do that today.
0:04:47
And that's the question, when things feel hopeless, what can I do today that can glorify God? I'm just gonna focus on this one thing that I have control over. This morning, every Monday at six o'clock, we have the gratitude segment.
0:05:04
And people call and share what they're grateful for. And we shared a couple stories, and all the stories had a theme of zooming out. I'm doing this with my fingers. I'm doing the zoom out like on your phone. I think anxiety, a lot of anxiety comes from
0:05:16
zooming in too much. You just zoom in and then get all in your head. And we just gotta zoom out. Zoom out, zoom out, zoom out, get a broader perspective. We shared the story, D-Day story, and we shared a Ronald Reagan story,
0:05:30
and then we shared D-Day 80th anniversary's coming up in just a couple days on the 6th. What day is that? That's Thursday. And then we shared a story of the seven-year war from George Washington's perspective back in 1753. So we zoomed out and once you zoom
0:05:46
out then you get some perspective. And we didn't really finish the story now that I think about it because of William. Now you got to zoom back in. So you're in your head, you're all overwhelmed and things feel hopeless. Okay zoom out, zoom out, zoom out, zoom out. Okay so you zoom out now you get a 30,000 point perspective, okay, I feel some peace now. And okay, now, zoom back in.
0:06:05
Okay, zoom back in and then focus on what you can do today to glorify God. Thank you God for giving us the opportunity to do that. Man, people are going through some hard things in their lives right now. Some people are going through some hard things. Maybe the only good news in the midst of those is that you can glorify God in the process. If you could pray for William in Pennsylvania, I know he'd appreciate it. Mike Slater dot locals dot com.
