It's fun to watch the RNC. It's a nice party, a celebration, a rallying of the team, it's all good. And it's especially fun to know that whatever goes on there, you have the real answer.
Welcome to Politics by Faith, brought to you by the Patriot Gold Group. Thanks for being here. What an unbelievable time this is right now. I'm still haunted by what could be, where we could be and the things that could be happening right now if that bullet was just a little bit in a different direction or any number of different things.
Just Trump didn't turn his head at that exact millisecond. I just don't want to skip past that. I feel like we really have. I don't know, I don't know when your place of work are people even talking about this. The fact that the president was almost assassinated, that it was just a slight turn of the head. That was the difference between him being dead or sitting in the front row of the convention today. I don't think it's getting the attention, honestly, that it deserves. We're like moving on so fast to the ramifications of it that we've skipped over the fact that it happened.
I don't want that to happen. I opened up this morning to Hosea 11 and I thought I was in the Psalms. I woke up really early this morning so I thought I was reading a psalm and I read as it was Hosea. I didn't realize so after but so here's the backstory this Israel had a terrible king and The Israelites were worshiping Baal just like we do in America and
God obviously will bring severe consequences to the people of Israel for doing this and God says the people of Israel. He says you don't know God you have no relationship With me you pretend to you pretend to worship me But then you go on and you worship these other gods at the same time. By the way, so do we. And God calls out the Israelites for relying on their

political and military alliances with Egypt and Assyria. And He says, you should be relying on me. And we do the same thing here in America. We rely on our military. We've always been the greatest. As far as I've been alive, we've been the number one country in the world. Well, the Romans thought they were the best in the world. The British were the empire of the world. The Mongols were the empire, right?
0:02:10
Every era has had their empire, and we've had, we've happened to have been living through America being the empire of the world, and we just assume that it will be that way forever, but of course it won't. So we rely on our strength, we rely on our coattails, we rely on our military thinking it will save our souls or thinking we will never be defeated but we can't do anything you do anything without God nothing ever and those areas where we get the line for they so the wind and shall reap the

whirlwind Jose I went through tens it's worth the read obviously it's not very long but let's go to chapter 11 when Israel was a child. I loved him and out of Egypt. I called my son So this is the imagery of God as a loving father and Israel as a son they my son sacrificed to the bales and burned incense to carved images I Taught Ephraim Israel to walk taking them by their arms

But they did not know that I healed them. I drew them with gentle cords, with bands of love. And I was to them as those who take the yoke from their neck. I stooped and I fed them." Such a beautiful image here that God does everything for us, even when we don't know it and almost everything we don't know or don't appreciate. I saw a post the other day of a dad, actually a grandpa, with his grandchildren at the beach. And they were, look, Grandpa, look at this shell I found.
0:03:41
And the kids are all running around in the sand finding these shells. And Grandpa went to the souvenir store that morning and bought these really nice shells and was tossing them out of his pocket for the kids to find.
0:03:57
And the kids didn't know. And the mom didn't know that that's what her dad did when she was a little girl as well. Fun little story there. I think it's similar with God, right? It says here, they did not know that I healed them. We don't even know all the things that God does for us, but it's every single thing. And then good things happen to us and we're like, oh, I worked so hard or we thank other things that happened I love the imagery of God helping us walk by holding our hands John or James is like I don't like

20 months or something and just yesterday I had a little moment when I'm helping him up the stairs helping him walk up the stairs and he's holding my finger I said my finger on he's grabbing my finger as we walk up the stairs together with his sweet little hand and that's how God handles me. I think it's a beautiful imagery. He shall not return to the land of Egypt, but the Assyrian shall be his king.

Oh, because they refuse to repent and the sword shall slash in his cities, devour his districts and consume them because of their own councils. They're not turning to me. My people are bent on backsliding from me, though they call to the most high, none of all, none at all exalt him these people this is what they refuse to repent but God has so much mercy he says my heart churns within me my sympathy is stirred I will not execute the fierceness

of my anger I will not again destroy you from Israel for I am God and not man the Holy One in your midst and I will not come with terror God has so much long-suffering with us. Now I always want to be careful of connecting or comparing us with Israel too much. These Old Testament scriptures are written of a specific time and place in many cases. But at the end of Hosea, what Spurgeon said of chapter 14, he says this chapter in the Bible, this is no chapter in the Bible, can be more rich in mercy than the last of Hosea.

I think this gives us permission to broaden out the story that God is telling. He says, Who is wise? Let him understand these things. Who is prudent? Let her know them.
0:06:14
For the ways of the Lord are right. The righteous walk in them, but transgressors stumble in them. I think that gives us permission to apply it to not just Israel, but it applies to all people and all peoples Our nation can only be healed if we worship God once again The RNC the conventions going on right now, and I'm watching all the speeches and stuff and they're fine and you know, these are political people and that's that's great. That's part of it, but
0:06:40
That will only go so far to me that's like relying on our military or relying on our alliance with Egypt or Syria or whatever to save us. That can't save us. We need to turn to God and turn to Jesus if we want to save our individual souls and if we want to save this nation. In the meantime, thank goodness that God forgives because we have a lot to repent for. So as you're watching the convention, it's great. Be energized. Be excited. It's nice. But just know that for the most part,

whatever they're saying up there isn't the answer. The good things, right? Good things, we pass this law, do this, right? All good things, but not the answer, which should be motivation because even though they have the platform and they have the microphone and they have the big screens, you have the answer. So let's make sure we dive deeper into the word so we can be even more prepared to give it to the people in our circle and when our nation calls we know the truth. people in our circle and when our nation calls we know the truth.
